A film on a Patchwork family, which has to experience a worst case scenario: Marion with her son and Kai with his four kids have just moved in together, when Kai is diagnosed with lung cancer. What will happen to the children if Kai doesn't survive his illness? How does the family deal with this greatest possible challenge? The film shows the fight of the family against the disease, the preparation for death – and how live goes on thereafter. Sigrid Faltin and her crew spent four years with the patchwork family for this documentary film, through times of love, pain, hope – into a new future.
